This is a beautiful bronze sculpture by renowned sculptor Don Wiegand of Chesterfield MO, signed & dated 2000. As you can see, it is a very detailed 3-dimensional representation of August A. Busch, Jr. ready for hunting. This piece is a maquette - or scale model - of a life-size piece that Wiegand created for the August A. Busch, Jr. Memorial Wetlands at Four Rivers in Rich Hill, MO. While most of Wiegand\'s pieces are large sculptures done on commission - like the one for the Wetlands - 350 of this particular maquette were commissioned by Ducks Unlimited 1999-2000.The sculpture is almost 15 inches tall from the bottom of the base to the top of the hunting cap & about 5-1/4 inches across at the arms. The hunter is one piece, with an attached panel of detailed cattails on the back that is about 7 inches by 7 inches at its widest/tallest. The base is 5-1/4 inches across in the front where it is engraved August A. Busch, Jr. & 6 inches across in the back where it is signed (c) Don Wiegand. I acquired this piece through an estate & was able to get more information about the piece from the artist.
This piece is in excellent condition with no breaks or scratches. It is a heavy bronze, weighing almost 9 pounds. Will ship UPS Ground.Related Items:
